PUBLIC NOTICE

 

Under Wisconsin State Statute 5.84(1), the Town of Herman will be conducting a public test on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 8am of the optical ballot tabulation system and touch screen equipment to ascertain that it will correctly count the votes cast for all offices and on all measures for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.  The test will be performed in the clerk’s office at N7240 Ferris Road, Mayville.  The test is open to the public.

Absentee Voting

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election.  The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.  Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature.  You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email or in person.

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:

5 pm on the fifth day before the election, November 8, 2016.

Note:    Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror.  If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.

Call for appointment

The first day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office is / was:  October 3, 2016.

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:  November 6, 2016.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on November 8, 2016.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.


Fall Bulk Drop-off

TOWN OF HERMAN, DODGE COUNTY, WISCONSIN

The Town of Herman will be holding a FALL CLEAN-UP day at the Town of Herman Recycling Center, N6131 Town Hall Road on October 15, 2016 during regular recycling center hours for Town of Herman residents ONLY. Proof of ID may be required.

An extra large dumpster will be available at the recycling center for drop-off of bulk items. A scrap metal bin will be available as usual. Tires are accepted but not in the bulk drop-off bin and are subject to specific fees based on size of tire.

Items eligible for bulk drop-off are:

  • Furniture
  • Rolled carpeting
  • Cabinets
  • Countertops
  • Mattresses/bed springs
  • Non metal doors
  • Wood windows
  • Play equipment
  • Appliances that do not contain Freon and are not electronic

Excluded Items:

  • Construction or Business Waste
  • Freon containing appliances, TVs, microwaves, or electronic goods
  • Batteries
  • Used oil, grease, filters or rags containing oil and grease

Information of where these items may be disposed of will be available at the recycling center. Ask attendants on duty. Information about bulk drop-off and proper disposal of excluded items will be available on the town website in the coming weeks or call the clerk, Diane Beine at (920) 387-9322.

Herman Sanitary District #1 Meeting

Zoning Board of Review

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Town of Herman Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. at the old Herman School on the request of Trinity Lutheran Church to change the use of the old Herman School building to religious, community center, retail office, and retail coffee shop/café as per Town statute 384-29 of the Town of Herman Code of Ordinances and to apply for a variance for the size of a sign for the property in the NW ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 15 as per Town statute of the Town of Herman Code of Ordinances Chapter 384 Article VII.  All persons interested are invited to attend and be heard.  Board members and Plan Commission members may be in attendance at this hearing.
